Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland"

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 22, 2009, 2:51 PM
In 2008 I had the opportunity to do a lot of the character designs for "Alice in Wonderland" [link]

I was very lucky to meet Tim Burton as well as Ken Ralston from Sony Imageworks, I've been working directly at the film set in Plymouth and later on at the set in LA, it's been a great time working for one of my favourite directors.
Seeing Johnny Depp's performance was also mindblowing, he's amazingly talented.

Below are some images that have just been released officialy.
You can find the full article on this site, as well as 3 concept art pieces for the environments: [link]
I will show you the huge pile of the other character designs I did after the film's release in 2010.

Here's a photo of Johnny Depp in the Mad Hatter costume and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen as well as two of the very early Hatter concepts I did:

I think Tim Burton created another Alice in Wonderland different than previous incarnations and the original story. Not so deep, but easily and very beautifully...

I'm not a huge fan of Burton, but I do love Alice in Wonderland. I hope he does it justice. The designs look amazing.

I love your visions on the hatter.. bad thing it ended up being more a MAD CLOWN than the hatter.. For me, the result makes no justice to the spirit of it, they took your work and ruined it. I love the glasses idea, but as someone said, you have to see Johnny depp's eyes...not. YOU HAVE TO SEE JOHNNY DEPP. I really like his acting work, but really, He shouldn't do EVERYTHING Burton wants to. Wonka was the greatest, but this Hatter is a shame. Sorry If I sound like a hater, but I actually love the books, and even love more the great visions of it like yours. it hurts to see it destroyed.

I'm very excited for this film. I hope I'm not repeating past mistakes here. lol His SWEENEY TODD didn't live up for me (it was good, but MAN, I adore Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovitt).

The concept art here is beautiful. The second mad hatter one is very interesting. Almost a Steam Punk hatter.
