China Girl character design for Oz the Great and Powerful. While I was working on this design, I stumbled over a puppeteer performance on Youtube, and I was amazed how much emotion he was able to inject into the puppet. So I proposed the idea of creating an actual China Girl marionette and having a puppeteer creating her movement directly on set, with the actors. You can read more about it here: [link]

I loved this mädchen in the movie! I wish she played a bigger role. It was so cute how mean and vicious she seemed at some times, not considering she was made out of China!

This was probably my favourite character - she was very cute, and had a spunky attitude (as long as she wasn't scared). It was also eerily familiar...I felt like I'd seen a similar character somewhere before... :hmm:
